A historical heritage of accuracy, style, scale and proportion inspires our Arches, Keys and Crowns. These products comprise a segment of ornamentation that is influenced by any number of periods: 17th Century Italian, the Renaissance, the Beaux Arts, and Georgian, to name but a few. Arches traditionally acted more as a support than as decoration. But over time, the arch became more embellished as historical styles evolved.
Presumably, a key occurs at the apex of an arch, yet our keys also act as the centerpiece between horizontal ornamentation. It is important, structurally, since it marks the apex of the vault and provides a central focus for symmetrical sides. These keys are embellished both naturally and geometrically for adaptive uses.
Crowns employ natural motives and act as connecting bands for molding or merely as ornamentation to span distance. They rise at the center and often are used at tops of doorways or cabinets. |
