Architecturally speaking, a rosette is a painted, carved, or sculptured ornament that mimics the grace and gentility of a rose. In the broader sense, ornaments in a confined circular or circular-like shape that radiate from the center, may be termed a rosette.
As a free ornament, the rosette is the boss (or raised area) of Romanesque and Gothic ribbed vaultings. It is the centerpiece of ceilings in numerous Antique Temples and the vaulted cupolas of ecclesiastical and secular buildings of the Italian Renaissance.
Our Rosettes can be used as free ornaments or panel ornaments to awaken the beauty of furniture, doors, pilasters, mantels and many other applications. They are circular, square, oval and rectangular. However, we also craft a star-shaped rosette. |
